“My clients’ objectives are at the centre of my work process. I carefully consider risk, reward, and strategy in any plan of maneuvers toward those objectives.”

Chetan Phull

Bio

Chetan joined Fine & Deo in 2016, bringing with him several years of litigation experience representing insurance companies in both private practice and in-house settings. His practice broadly deals with issues regarding compliance, governance including company meetings and director/owner oppression, telecommunications contracts, shared facilities agreements, vendor contracts, loan contracts, liens and other secured interests, and insurance. His commitment to cost effective client service is evidenced through his development and use of software tools that maximize his efficiency and value to clients.

Chetan previously served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the “Lower Condominium” of Aura at College Park in Toronto, one of Canada’s tallest mixed-use condominium structures. Prior to beginning his practice in Toronto, Chetan served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, where he performed legal research for Justices of the Court and gained valuable insight into the craft of judicial decision making.

While earning his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University, Chetan led a team of Canadian legal researchers across India for a project comparing the enforcement and treatment of constitutional rights between Canada and India. He also led a team of graduate law students for an international arbitration moot competition during his Master of Laws at University College London.

Chetan has published several law journal articles, one of which appeared in the Journal of International Arbitration, has been cited by numerous law professors, and was translated into Thai. He also has publications appearing in the Journal of International Banking Law and Regulation, and the Indian Law Institute Law Review.

Before studying and practicing law, Chetan earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition with Honours from the University of Toronto, where he also obtained a Minor in English.
